Meet Our Pastors

Matt Wood

Pastor

Pastor Matt has a heart for helping people grow deeper in their understanding of Scripture and experience the transforming grace of Jesus Christ.

He is passionate about faithful preaching, authentic discipleship, and building a church community where people feel known, encouraged, and cared for. He is excited to meet you!

He has been married to Alisha for over 20 years and has two children. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and Westminster Theological Seminary. Some of his favorite things are coffee, books, hearing people's stories, and time with his family.

James serves with a desire to see believers rooted in Christ through the careful, faithful exposition of Scripture. He is dedicated to building up the local church in sound doctrine—utilizing catechesis and the Reformed confessions—and shepherding a congregation where individuals are genuinely known, nurtured, and matured in their faith.

A graduate of Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in South Carolina, James has been happily married to Glenda for 29 years. They are the proud parents of two adult believing children and doting grandparents to three little ones. Outside of ministry, James enjoys studying, traveling, reading, and making memories with his family.

The PCA

What is the PCA?

Grace & Peace Church is part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a denomination committed to the authority of Scripture, the historic Christian faith, and the proclamation of the Gospel.

The PCA exists to help churches remain grounded in biblical truth while equipping believers to faithfully follow Christ in everyday life.

What does Presbyterian mean?

The word “Presbyterian” refers to a form of church leadership led by elders and rooted in historic Christian tradition. While our church values historic theology and tradition, our ultimate authority is God’s Word.

Whether you are familiar with Presbyterian churches or completely new to them, you are welcome here.

The Westminster Confession of Faith

The Westminster Confession of Faith is a historic summary of biblical doctrine that helps guide our teaching and theology as a churchOriginally written in the 1600s, it continues to serve as a trusted expression of core Christian beliefs rooted in Scripture.

Why It Matters

The Westminster Confession helps provide clarity, consistency, and theological depth in the life of the church.

It is not placed above the Bible, but serves as a helpful summary of what we believe Scripture teaches about God, salvation, the church, and the Christian life.

The Apostles’ Creed

The Apostles’ Creed is one of the oldest and most widely recognized statements of Christian belief.

For centuries, Christians have used this confession to affirm the foundational truths of the Gospel and the historic Christian faith.

Why We Use Historic Creeds

Historic creeds help unite Christians across generations around the core truths of Scripture.

When we recite the Apostles’ Creed together, we join with believers throughout history in proclaiming the truth of who God is and what He has done through Jesus Christ.
